ARE YOUR MEMBERSHIP DUES PAST DUE?:
Reminder that 2025 Dues need to be paid by March to remain in good standing with the Club. For 2025, Dues must be paid and submitted with a Membership Form which we are using to keep our member records as up to date as possible. For 2025, the Membership voted to keep our annual dues at their current rates. Regular Members may renew at $55, and Senior Members (aged 70 and over) may renew at $35. The Membership Form may be found on our Club web site at www.strgc.org on the Links & Docs page. Follow the instructions on the Form for mailing in your Dues, or drop them off at the Clubhouse during our Sunday morning breakfasts.
NEW MEMBER ORIENTATION:
The Club will be holding a new member orientation on Sunday, March 30, 2025 at 11 AM, immediately after breakfast. There will be a tour of the facilities along with instructions on opening the Trap & Skeet fields and pistol range. Completion of this Orientation will allow new members to get a key to the facilities!
CLUB IMPROVEMENTS:
Note that all Trap & Skeet fields are now operational. Trap field #1 had been temporarily closed for routine machine maintenance.

SUNDAY MORNING BREAKFAST – Reminder that our breakfasts at the Club continue every Sunday morning from 8 to 10:30AM until the end of April. We take the Summer off, and then start up again at the beginning of October.
MOVING BIRDS – We will need volunteers to move 5 pallets of birds from Naglees storage up to our trap & skeet fields before April’s Cameron Trap League begins. Let us know if you can help!
CAMERON TRAP LEAGUE – Our popular spring Trap League begins on April 23rd and runs every Wednesday culminating with a shoot-off on June 18th and an awards/steak dinner on June 25th. See our Flyer for more info. Any ATA trap shooters desiring to have their league trap targets registered with the ATA may pay an additional $7 per league. See Mike Dipetta for details.
BSA SCOUTS SPRING CAMPOREE – Our Club has agreed to host the Winding Rivers District Boy Scout Camporee again this spring, on May 16th thru May 18th. Events include Rifle, Shotgun, Laser Pistol, BB Gun, Slingshot and possibly Archery. We will need all the help we can get for this event, both on the fields and in the kitchen.
32nd ANNUAL TONY ROSSI MEMORIAL SKEET SHOOT – Last year was a sell-out and the Club will once again host this popular annual event for registered Skeet shooters from across the region. Save the dates: June 27th thru June 29th. Again, we will need lots of help, both on the fields and in the kitchen!
SUMMER SKEET & TRAP LEAGUES – Schedule to be determined.
FALL BREAKFAST TRAP LEAGUE – This Trap League is open to the public and runs from October to early December, with 8 weeks of Sunday morning shooting. This League coincides with our Sunday Morning breakfasts, enabling our shooters to get a hearty breakfast before hitting the fields for a frosty shoot.
MONTHLY MEETINGS – Our monthly Club membership meetings take place on the first Wednesday of every month at 7 PM. Many of these meetings offer a meal beforehand, beginning at 6:00 PM. These meetings are your opportunity to participate in the decision-making and direction of YOUR Club!
OTHER NEWS:
CLUB APPAREL: – As usual, STR&G has apparel available for sale. We currently have hats in stock. We also plan on doing special orders for t-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, and vests periodically, but each item has a minimum order of 10 pieces, and interest to re-order has been low. News Update for the Club:
OCTOBER
It was announced at the October monthly meeting that the Club has regained ATA registration for our Trap Fields. This means that any ATA registered Trap shooters may have their league targets applied to their registered target tally. To do so, simply pay an additional $7 per league to Mike Dipetta who will coordinate with the ATA.
NOVEMBER
At the Club’s November monthly meeting, the membership voted to raise the Regular dues from $50 to $55 beginning on January 1st, 2024. Get next year’s dues paid before the end of 2023 and save $5! Also, beginning January 1st, 2024 there will be a Senior dues rate of $35 annually for members 70 years of age or older. We will no longer offer a “lifetime” membership, however, those already enjoying it will be grandfathered in.
The locksets to the Clubhouse & Shooters Shack will be re-keyed at year’s end 2023. For those members requiring a new key, you may trade in your old key for a new one by contacting Club President Rich Rice. If you do not have a key, you may contact Rich to acquire one for a deposit fee of $5. The key remains the property of the Club, and must be returned for your deposit if you leave the Club.

Our inaugural season hosting the Elmira School District “Express Team” in the NYSHSCTL on our Skeet & Trap fields has come to a successful close. The Trap Team finished a respectable 3rd place in Conference #7. The Skeet Team finished an outstanding 2nd in the State. Skeet shooters Luke Stoner, Adam Rosekrans and Brandon Wood all placed in the Top 10 in the State. Several of our shooters are now on their way to the New York State Tournament to be held in Cicero in late June. Congratulations to all of our young shooters!

The new pistol range is now OPEN! The range was completed on schedule and within budget. This is an expansive pit-style range and is a great new shooting venue for our facility. It is 75 yards long and has a 12′ high berm at the rear and an 8′ high berm along the road. A new gong rack and three permanent target stands have been installed on the range. The Club’s competition plate rack is now located at the end of the range for use by members at any time. A 12″ gong has been located up on the hillside for an extra shooting challenge. This range is for use with handguns and 22LR caliber rifles.

The shacks are also secure, giving us a place to store the microphones when the fields are not in use. Thanks to all those who helped make these buildings a reality!

HUNTING SEASON IS HERE!
Just a reminder: If you are hunting on our Club grounds and expect to be out beyond the Rifle Range, place one of these orange targets on the Rifle Range shooting bench. Likewise, if you are hunting in the area above the Pistol Range, there is a triangle on the side of the clubhouse that should be placed on the Pistol Range shooting bench. THESE TRIANGLES ARE THERE FOR YOUR SAFETY!
IF YOU SEE THE TRIANGLE ON THE BENCH, ASSUME SOMEONE IS HUNTING IN THE WOODS AND DO NOT SHOOT ON THAT RANGE!
AND, IF YOU PUT THE TRIANGLE ON THE BENCH, PLEASE REMOVE IT WHEN YOU ARE DONE HUNTING!
